#GoWilde Week 35: Get Green Hair

This week, let's talk about some easy eco-friendly changes you can make to your hair routine that will make a big impact on our environment.

1. Air dry over blow dry: try to cut back on the amount you use a blow dryer. Blow dryers use excessive amounts of energy! If you MUST use the blow dryer, atleast towel dry your hair as much as possible to reduce blow dry time.

2. Recycle shampoo bottles and packaging! Also, try buying shampoo and conditioner in bigger bulk bottles to save money and energy on packaging.

3. Stay away from aerosol sprays!
A lot of aerosols use carbon dioxide, propane, and butane— greenhouse gases that contribute to global warming— to propel the product out of the can. Used aerosol cans are often considered hazardous waste because of the toxic propellants.

4. Know your ingredients! Some shampoos and conditioners contain harmful ingredients that end up in our waterways hurting wildlife. Stick to brands that use natural, organic ingredients and healthy botanicals. Some of my favorite eco-friendly hair products are made from companies like Aveda, Jurlique, Burt's Bees, and Ren.

5. To be super eco-friendly, consider making your own hair products from scratch! There are lots of homemade hair masks and cleansers you can find recipes for online that contain vitamin rich ingredients like coconut oil, avocado, eggs and much more!

So #GoWilde this week and make your hair routine green!
